I have visited Monument Valley many times, but I have never seen a sunset like on this evening. The sky behind me was on fire. After the sunset, the clouds glowed a beautiful pink which tinted the red rocks to a color I'd never seen before in the west. To capture the uniqueness of the color and beauty of the moment I focused on a simple mitten.

Until the Fog Clears
It was January in Biei, Japan, and I had hoped to capture minimalist photos of trees and snow. It had been snowing almost constantly, until late on this afternoon when filtered sunlight broke through the clouds. I loved how the soft light created gentle shadows on the snow, and I liked the simplicity of how the tree punctuated the corner of the fence. Later, when I looked at the photo again, I realized the shadow was not from the fence, but rather a set of footprints which created a story for me and I like the photo more. - Honorable Mention - iMinimalist Awards - Landscape -2024

The Lonely Tree
Isolated in the snow
Two red crown cranes are running to take off. This was captured in northern Japan in January, 2023. The red crown crane is considered sacred and a sign of fidelity. My goal was to isolate the cranes on the snow as to create more of an abstract image. The soft light eliminated the shadows and footprint in the snow, and made the snow appear untouched.HM in Minimalist Awards 2024 - Open category
